Marc L. LaCasse
Mr. LaCasse concentrates his practice in the following areas: civil litigation in the Massachusetts Superior and District Courts and Federal Court; appellate advocacy before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and Appeals Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit; City of Boston Licensing and Regulatory; insurance coverage; reinsurance; and condominium association law.
He attended Northeastern University and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice in 1985. He subsequently received his law degree from the Northeastern University School of Law in 1988. After law school, Mr. LaCasse served as a law clerk to the justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court, and then as a Staff Attorney for the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. He has been practicing at The McCormack Firm since 1990.
Mr. LaCasse's litigation and appellate practice has included a very broad array of civil cases. He has handled claims involving defamation and invasion of privacy; civil rights; environmental insurance coverage; workers' compensation premium fraud; legal malpractice; Uniform Commercial Code; attorneys' liens; workers' compensation liens; Chapter 93A and Chapter 176D claims for unfair insurance practices; Anti-SLAPP; automobile insurance regulation; employee leasing insurance coverage; complex issues of civil and appellate procedure; First Amendment; construction accidents; construction defects; products liability; general negligence; property damage and personal injury. He has been involved in over 250 Superior Court cases and over 45 appeals to the state's two appellate courts.
Mr. LaCasse's condominium practice includes the representation and rendering of opinions to boards of trustees and condominium owners on matters including: governance; condominium documents; enforcement of rules and regulations; collection of delinquent assessments; mediation and litigation of intra-condominium disputes; construction defect claims; proper reserving practices; City and neighborhood association issues; noise; and insurance claims and disputes.
He also represents businesses in matters before various City of Boston agencies including the Inspectional Services Department; the Licensing Board for the City of Boston; the Mayor's Office of Consumer Affairs and Licensing; and the Zoning Board of Appeal.
Currently, his community service includes: Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Rollins Square Condominium Association, a 184 unit complex in Boston's South End; Board of Directors of Washington Gateway Main Street; and Clerk of Boston Jewish Spirit. He has previously served on the Zoning Boards of Appeal in Harvard, MA and Ashburnham, MA.
Mr. LaCasse is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. He is a member of the Boston and Massachusetts Bar Associations.
